Roots (Hebrews 12:1-2)
Being connected to something that is bigger then ourselves is a priority at Crossroads. We believe in affirming the work of God throughout time by clinging onto our roots. One way we cling to these roots and bear witness that we are a part of something that is bigger then ourselves is we are connected to the United Methodist Church. We do not claim to be the inventors of the faith but believe that we can only know where we are going if we know where we have been. This connection with the United Methodist Church affirms that we are connected to the past and that we are a part of something bigger then ourselves.
As we look to the past we see that whenever the church has flourished it has done so by spreading the message of Jesus in a language that the culture understands. We understand that if we are going to be a crossroads between the brokenness of the world and the transforming love of Jesus Christ then we must meet people where they are and communicate the truths of Jesus in a manner that our culture will absorb. Whether it is through music, teaching, preaching, fellowship, or service we want to replicate the transforming love of Jesus Christ in a way that we become an instrument of God's grace that makes an impact upon the world of today and tomorrow. Through this replication we desire to affirm the living faith of the dead and build upon the foundation that will fuel the faith of those that come after us.
Journey (Acts 2:42-47)
As followers of Jesus, we know that being part of a faith community is essential to our faith journey. It is impossible for us to follow Jesus alone. Scripture tells us that following Jesus means to be in community with others and to make this journey of bearing witness to the gospel together. Simply, we can do more for Jesus together then we could ever do alone. Through shared prayer, learning, giving, confession, forgiveness, sacrifice, service, and fellowship we journey together in community to take part in God's plan of redemption for the world.
